A Leaking Shower Is Always a Bad Installation
Shower tile installation is the most technically demanding tile work in residential construction. Done correctly, a tiled shower will be completely watertight for decades. Done incorrectly — with inadequate waterproofing or improper mortar coverage — leaks develop within 2–5 years and can cause thousands in structural damage to surrounding walls and subfloors before they're discovered.
We use Schluter KERDI and Wedi board waterproofing systems — the gold standard in shower waterproofing — rather than traditional felt and cement board methods that can fail over time. Every shower we build is tested with water before grouting to confirm there are no waterproofing failures before tile is applied.
