Your Phoenix Pool Service Questions Answered
In Phoenix, weekly cleaning is strongly recommended May through September. Summer heat above 100Β°F burns chlorine off fast, dust storms drop debris and phosphates into the pool, and high bather load means biweekly often can't keep up. October through April, biweekly is usually fine. Many of our clients run weekly in summer and biweekly in winter. We adjust your monthly rate accordingly so you're not overpaying in cool months.
Most residential pools (10,000β20,000 gallons) run $120β$150/month for weekly service, $95β$120/month biweekly, and $85β$95/month for monthly visits. Pricing covers labor, chemistry testing, and standard chlorine, acid, and shock β no surprise chemical surcharges. Larger pools, salt systems, or pools with persistent issues may run higher. We always quote a flat monthly rate after seeing the pool.
Almost always saved with chemistry β even pea-soup green pools recover in 5β7 days with proper shock, brushing, and filter cycling. Draining is only recommended for total swamps, very high CYA (over 100 ppm), or heavy calcium scaling. Our flat-rate green-to-clean recovery runs $250β$650 depending on severity, including daily visits until the water is clear. Much cheaper than draining and refilling.
For a typical 15,000-gallon pool: white plaster runs $3,500β$5,000, quartz finishes $5,000β$7,000, and Pebble Tec $6,500β$9,000 ($9,000β$13,000 for premium colors). New waterline tile adds $1,200β$2,500. Most full tile + Pebble Tec projects total $8,000β$12,000. Phoenix plaster lasts 7β10 years, quartz 10β14 years, Pebble Tec 15β20+ years before needing redo.
In Phoenix, every 2β4 years. Phoenix tap water has high calcium and TDS to start, and it builds up faster here than anywhere else in the country. When TDS exceeds 2,500 ppm or CYA exceeds 100 ppm, chemistry stops working efficiently β chlorine doesn't kill, pH won't hold. Best time for drain & refill: December or January (cool air = no plaster damage during the empty period, low water demand keeps the bill down).
Pentair (IntelliFlo, MasterTemp, IntelliChlor, IntelliCenter), Hayward (TriStar, Universal H-Series, AquaRite, OmniLogic), and Jandy (ePump, JXi, AquaPure, iAquaLink) β these are the three big brands and we're certified on all of them. We also work on Raypak heaters, CompuPool salt systems, and older A.O. Smith and Century motors. Most repairs are completed same-visit with parts we keep on the truck.
Yes β about 60% of the pools we maintain are salt systems. Salt pools still need weekly cleaning, chemistry checks, and salt-cell inspection. We check cell condition every visit, descale annually, and replace failing cells when needed. We also test salt levels monthly and add salt as needed at cost. The "Inspect Cell" warning on Hayward AquaRite is usually just a calendar trigger, not a sign your cell is failing β we test it before recommending replacement.
Phoenix monsoon season runs JulyβSeptember with intense afternoon storms, haboobs (dust walls), and flash flooding. We recommend pre-storm visits in late June: pre-shock chlorine, lower water level slightly, secure deck items, clean filters, inspect drain covers. One pre-storm visit can save 2β3 days of post-storm recovery. Flat rate $150 per visit.
