Bobby Torres grew up in Tampa watching his father deal with cockroaches, palmetto bugs, and fire ants every summer. "Nobody taught us what to do," Bobby says. "We just called whatever company had the cheapest flyer on the door — and hoped for the best."

After 8 years working for two of Florida's largest pest control chains, Bobby had seen enough of high-pressure sales tactics, service techs who rushed jobs, and customers who couldn't get straight answers. In 2007, he opened Shield Pest Defense with one truck and a commitment to do it differently.
