Which Wood Is Right for Tampa Bay?

Pressure-Treated Pine

The most affordable option and well-suited to Florida's climate. Modern PT pine is treated with copper-based preservatives that resist rot and insects. Best for privacy and functional fences where appearance is secondary. Average installed cost: $18–$28/linear foot.

Western Cedar

Natural rot and insect resistance without chemical treatment. Cedar has beautiful grain and weathers to an attractive silver-gray if left unstained. Preferred for decorative fences and front-yard applications. Average installed cost: $26–$40/linear foot.

Composite / Hardwood

For premium projects, tropical hardwoods (ipe, teak) or composite boards provide exceptional durability and appearance. These are the most expensive option but can last 30+ years with no maintenance. Average installed cost: $35–$60/linear foot.
